Mera News is an AI-curated personal news assistant. Every day it processes more than 200,000 articles from thousands of sources around the world. When you open the app, Mera fetches the articles that could be relevant to you, reads and analyses each one, and shows you the stories most likely to affect your life. Between visits, it alerts you only when something genuinely matters, so you're better informed in minutes, not hours.

Privacy Built Into the Architecture
Your sensitive interests and personal facts never leave your device. All we receive are broad topic phrases: no profile, no reading history, and no user ID attached to them. No database links a reader to a topic, which means we cannot produce a record of what you read, because we never made one. What we do hold is small and we'd rather name it than round it down: your login email if you use one, or a sign-in record that lets your phone sign you in if you don't, your subscription status, and a per-day count used to enforce your plan. Mera is built in the Netherlands under the EU's GDPR, and not holding your data is the whole point of the design.

I built Mera to solve a problem I experienced firsthand: we spend hours every day hunting for information that matters, while most of what we find doesn't. My vision is simple: information should come to you when it's relevant, not trap you in endless feeds.
I've been a software engineer for nearly a decade. I spent four years at Meta (2022–2025) building recommendation systems at billion-user scale, navigating GDPR compliance, and deploying GenAI in production. The core innovation, privacy-preserving personalisation without centralised data collection, is something I built from scratch.
I'm building Mera because I want to use it myself. A tool that keeps you informed in minutes, respects your privacy, and gives you back time for the things that actually matter.
Why Trust Matters
Privacy is not something I think about after building a product. It shapes the architecture before development begins. AI is making cyberattacks more capable, which makes every central store of sensitive data more dangerous. The responsible approach is to collect less, retain less, and keep personal context on your device wherever possible.
